Q. I already have a sailing level achieved through CYA, can I still join?
A. Of course! With the new CBET program in place, anyone can join weather you have a level or not. If you do have a level, you may receive the appropriate checklist for the next level past your latest certification and start from there. (ensure you bring your certificate). If you don't have CYA certificates, the instructor can evaluate what level the student should be in, on the first day.

Q. How does the new program change the lessons?
A. The new CBET curriculum takes effect immediately. More information can be obtained here.

Q. When do lessons start?
A. As soon as school is out. Dates are: July 2 to August 29. Lessons run each day from 9am - 3pm.

Q. What do I bring each day?
A.
Essentials: Sunscreen, ball cap, change of clothes, lunch, and a pair of shoes that can get wet.
Optional: Money for lunch (requires note from parent), your own life jacket (we provide life jackets),

Answer:.
NOSA

. The box will be emptied one week prior to each course, so ensure your cheque is in or else your will lose your spot.

Q. How else can I pay?
A. You can either mail a cheque to the above address, signup and hand in the cheque at Britelands Farm and Garden store located at 3208 28th Street, Vernon B.C. Canada V1T 4Z8, or you can drop off the cheque one week prior to course. Please do not leave anything in the info. boxes outside the compound, we do not check there.

Q. How else can I sign up?
A. 4 ways:
1. In person at Briteland Farm and Garden (located at 3208 28th Street, Vernon)
2. in person at NOSA located at paddlewheel park, Vernon (please call to arrange signup and to make sure we are available - no set working hours at NOSA.)
3. on the WEBSITE. This is the best method. Click here to download our sign up forms.
4. my mail: Print a registration form out from here and mail it, with a cheque, to the above address.

Q. I work beyond 3:00 pm, can my child stay on the grounds?
A. By Law, we are governed by a child care act which means we must take care of your child until you arrive. If this is the case, you may be charged for additional child care time. But this is in extreme cases. Please don't not drive recklessly to arrive on time, your safety is important as well as your children's.

Q. My child is disabled, can he still join?
A. Certainly! Although
we do not have wheelchair access to the grounds or boats that can accommodate wheelchairs or quadriplegics, we will make an effort to ensure everyone gets equal instruction and experience. Each instructor is required to be in their motor boat for safety reasons, so the disabled student will not be able to sail with the instructor. If this is desired, please contact us for private lessons. You may want to consider a disabled sailing program such as those in Kelowna or Victoria (offered through C.O.S.A. or DSA.)

Q. Is there a microwave at the club?
A. Yes, each year a student donates one for the summer.

Q. How do I get to NOSA?
A. There is a map and directions to get to NOSA. Click here to see them.

Q. Are you talking about the Vernon Yacht Club?
A. No. Vernon Yacht Club and NOSA are different organizations. NOSA is located closer to town, on the North-East side of PaddleWheel park. VYC is located on the southwest side. You can access us through the Paddlewheel park parking lot.

Q. Do you rent out the sailboats?
A. No. In order to use the boats, you must become a member of this club. In order to use the boat share program, you must show a competency for maneuvering a sailboat prior to using the boats. Once membership has been obtained, you must schedule 5 minutes with the instructor to view your skills. Membership information can be obtained on the membership page.
Q. I cannot open the registration form
A. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download it free at adobe's web site here.

Q. I want to sign up, but the list is full.
A. You must signup on either another week or else you will be put on a waiting list for the requested week.
